Ice Sculpture Festival in Tecumseh, MI

What is the first thing you think of when someone mentions Michigan in January?

Did you say Ice?

Every January for the last 12 years, Tecumseh Michigan has held an Ice Sculpture Festival featuring fabulous ice sculptures and includes some fun activities.  Unfortunately, COVID has claimed several festivals around the world over the past year. But, this small festival, in a small town in Michigan, was still able to happen and was a lot of fun.

This event is held in Tecumseh, Michigan amongst all the charming downtown stores that are always a treat to visit.  All year, Downtown Tecumseh consists of antique stores, restaurants, toy stores, hobby shops, coffee shops, clothing boutiques, wineries/breweries,  gift shops and more.   On several occasions, Downtown Tecumseh, will put on events that draw crowds (sometimes large crowds) from all over the area.  The events are always a lot of fun and this year’s Ice Sculpture Festival did NOT disappoint.

Every year there are more and more sculptures created and put on display around the downtown area.  This year there were 36 amazing sculptures including shoes, trolls, soap, and a phoenix!  Balloon sculptures were also included in the creations this year.  Personally, I thought they looked kinda weird, but there were snowflakes, Elsa, and Olaf to name a few!  You could also participate in a scavenger hunt by visiting  the local businesses to win a prize.  There is always some festival gear that you can purchase to commemorate your fun trip to Tecumseh Michigan created by a local printing company.

Please enjoy these Ice Sculpture Festival photos and if you are ever looking for a quaint, fun, little town to visit, I hope you find your way to Tecumseh Michigan.  (There are several places to stay right downtown!) Be sure to check out Downtown Tecumseh’s website and Facebook page to see what events may be happening while you are here.
