To me, Disney isn’t always a place or a person. I believe Disney can be a way of thinking, being, and acting. During this time where our world is hectic and scary, we could all use a little Disney in our lives.
While Walt Disney was, indeed, a person who created a magical world where people experience the suspension of disbelief, his name has become more than just a noun. Someone can be Disney by bringing happiness into the world. People can be described as acting too Disney. And when you hear that, you know exactly what they mean. There are Disney fanatics, Disnerds, Disney Junkies, and more. Why has there become such a following and love for Disney in the parks and at home? Because it gives you the feels! Everyone wants to be happy and Disney helps you feel that way.

The Covid-19 has brought feelings into our lives that are anything but happy. We are being careful. We are isolating ourselves. Humans thrive on interactions with each other and we cannot do that right now. It is so easy to feel alone in the world with all these preventative measures we are taking. So, what can you and I do to make others feel like they are not alone? How can we bring a little Disney into the world?

For myself, I went to our local toy store, Hopscotch Kids, and purchased some sidewalk chalk and a Disney jigsaw puzzle. Today, I organized some of my Disney ‘stuff’, made a decoration out of our old magic bands, and drew Stitch on the sidewalk outside our house for people to enjoy while taking a walk. These things brought a little Disney to my life today. They made me feel happy and they made me feel like I am bringing a little happiness into someone elses life as well.

I cannot take credit for the idea. I saw a post on social media, made by our local schools, stating “Chalk your Walk”. The post is calling for people to draw on the sidewalk outside their house or place of work and to talk a walk to enjoy all of the artwork everyone has contributed. They put dates on it to be Friday March 20 and Saturday March 21. I encourage people to take it a step further. I challenge people to continue this ‘Disneyfied’ idea by drawing on ANY sidewalk, maybe where there is a lot of walking traffic. Don’t limit it to just two days, keep it going at least until the Coronavirus is under control and we can go back to bringing a little Disney a little closer to each other.
With Disney Parks closed all over the world, people cannot go to the Happiest place on Earth (or the Most Magical Place on Earth). So if the world cannot go to Disney, lets bring Disney to the world! Leave a comment below with your ideas of how to bring Disney into each others lives right now. How are you bringing Disney into your own life at home? Thank you for reading! Take care everyone! ❤
